Mehmet Ali Çelikel

Mehmet and Robyn met in Bursa Turkey in 2013 and have worked together since. Professor Çelikel is Head of the Department of English Language and Literature at Pamukkale University (Denizli, Turkey). He is a distinguished Turkish academic, talented poet, sensitive translator. His translation of Tess of the D’Ubervilles, by Thomas Hardy is due out in 2019 from Bilgi Yayınevi. His Ph.D from Liverpool University is on the Post-Colonial Condition in the Fiction of Rushdie, Kureishi and Roy; and his MA was on Virginia Woolf in English Language and Literature at the University of Hertfordshire in 1997. His book on the post-colonial novel in Turkish, Sömürgecilik Sonrası İngiliz Romanında Kültür ve Kimlik (Culture and Identity in Postcolonial English Novel) was published in 2011, followed by Çağdaş İngiliz Yazınında Küreselleşme, Göç ve Kültür (Globalization, Migration and Culture in Contemporary British Fiction),İstanbul: Bilge Kültür Sanat, 2017. He has published short stories, and translations of Robert Frost, Ben Jonson, Thomas Gray and Dr Robyn Rowland AO.
